Our Partners: Mojave Desert Land Trust

More About MDLT

  • Our mission is to protect the Colorado and Mojave Desert ecosystems and their natural, scenic, and cultural resources.

  • The MDLT service area spans nearly 26 million acres - the Colorado Desert and the entire California portion of the Mojave Desert. Since MDLT’s founding in 2006, MDLT has protected over 110,000 acres of ecologically significant land and grown over 100,000 native plants for restoration and community use.

  • We envisage the California desert as a vital ecosystem of interconnected, permanently protected scenic and natural areas that host a diversity of native plants and wildlife. Views and vistas are broad. The air is clear, the water clean, and the night skies dark.

A portion of every Stay With Terra booking goes back to local nature preservation nonprofits.

Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT) is our desert philanthropy partner and plays a crucial role in preserving public desert landscapes. In it’s 15 years of existence, MDLT has protected 100,000 acres across the California desert.

The organization’s work is made possible through collaboration with local community members, desert visitors, and other crucial agencies. Part of MDLT’s efforts include offering hands-on, interactive learning and volunteer opportunities to both residents and visitors.
